OUTLAWS REDUCE ROSTER TO 55 PLAYERS

LAS VEGAS (Monday, January 22, 2001) - Las Vegas Outlaws Head Coach Jim Criner complied with the XFL's roster mandate of 55 active players by 9:00 a.m. PT Monday by waiving three individuals and placing two others on the league's Reserve - Injured list.

Those waived today include two former Arizona State players, DE Vince Amey and K/P Marcus Williams. Also waived is former Florida State and Washington Redskins DE Sterling Palmer. The Outlaws placed two players - QB Chuck Clements and RB Tyrone Edwards - on the league's Reserve - Injured list, as both are hampered by shoulder sprains.

The Outlaws will practice in pads today and Tuesday at the Sam Boyd Stadium practice fields from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., with Wednesday's two-hour session beginning at 9:00 a.m. On Thursday, the Outlaws begin practice at 12:30 p.m. and run until 2:00 in preparation for Friday's open scrimmage against the San Francisco Demons. The scrimmage is currently slated for 5:00 p.m. at Sam Boyd, but could be moved due to weather and field conditions.

The Outlaws and the other seven XFL squads cut down to the final 45-man roster (38 active/7 practice squad) on Sunday, January 28.
