Up in the sky, its a bird, its a plane...
...Actually Gotham doesn't see anything at all.

Hank Donnelly - NY/NJ Hitmen Team Reporter

New York - (23 January 2001) - What is it that you and I are not seeing? Rumor has it that there is a new team from an upstart professional football league in the greatest city in the country. The city is world famous New York. The league is the XFL, perhaps you have heard of it. It's the one with the governor, Jesse Ventura doing ads. The team, what's it called? ...Let me check my records here... back to the 25th of August 2000... oh yeah, they are called The Hitmen.

I am honestly having a difficult time deciding if i like this name or not. On the one hand, I know that the XFL is trying to go for the American sports jugular. What better way to get to the hearts and minds of the 18-25 year old demographic than with a killer name.

The Hitmen? It has a touch of sadism to it and just might reverberate with those WWF fans who are used to wild and wacky names, meant to both amuse and describe their hero worshipping personas.

The Hitmen? Then again, on the other hand, how lame can one get? The name kind of sounds like something two ten year olds would come up with if they were in charge; and lived in Peoria; and had heard all the stories of murder and mayhem in the Big Apple.

Perhaps, like other hitmen that the Gotham area has spawned, they have become
involved in the governments' witness protection program. Which would explain why lately they are virtually transparent.

Whatever the case may be, this intrepid reporter will continue to keep an eye out for any news that may be fit to print in this four paper town, about a team that might be more accurately described as the Invisible Men.
