Three
interceptions, Two Touchdowns, One win

San
Francisco - The Bay Area - (19 February 2001) -- The Demons
came from behind with a rally in the second half to improve
their record to 2-1. With that record, they are tied for 1st
place in the West, thanks to the Xtreme win over the Outlaws.
I had doubts if they would even score by half time. The score
was 6-0, all scored by Maniax K Jeff Hall.
Throughout
the game, the Demons played consistent football. They had no
fumbles, and Pawlawski had no interceptions. But the bottom
line was that they couldn't score. The Demons RB Vaughn Dunbar
rushed for negative four yard in four carries. He was pulled
out in favor of Terry Battle. Terry Battle was the Demons savior
with 2 touchdown receptions, rushed 35 yards in 6 carries, and
caught 5 passes for 53 yards. Also, he is the Demon's Kickoff
Returner, and returned 74 yards in three chances. Do you see
a well-rounded player? I do!
In
my previous article, I stated the three things the Demons needed
to do
to win. They were:
1. Score!
2. Stop the Penalties!
3. Stop the run!
The
results:
1. The Demons out scored the Maniax in terms of touchdown 2-0.
2. The Demons limited their penalties to 9 for 74 yards. A dramatic
decrease from their previous 15 for 131 yards to 13 for 103
yards.
3. Maniax RB Salaam Rashaan rushed 82 yards against the Outlaws
defense. Against the Demons, he salvages 43 yards in 16 carries.
Demons,
thank you. Another great game, another well deserve win.
Next
up: Battle atop the West Division
Demons will host the defeated Las Vegas Outlaws at Pac Bell
Park. The Outlaws undefeated record ended with the Xtreme's
four field goal effort. They will still be without Ryan Clement.
